From the Principal’s Pen……………….
During the last two months the majority of my emails from parents revolve around the subject of the H1N1 flu. This is the concern that has hit the media from schools all across the country. I know that many of you are very much aware of the health issues for your children at school. I want you to know at Fairview we have taken several steps to keep students and staff as healthy as possible during this difficult time. Numerous hand sanitizers have been installed throughout the school, with several in place near the cafeteria so that children can clean their hands before eating. A video on hand washing and cough etiquette has been shown to all students and we continue to remind students of these measures on a daily basis. Our school nurses are tracking the reasons why children are absent and educating parents as to when it is appropriate to send their sick children back to school. As soon as Chicopee receives the H1N1 vaccine we will be announcing the date of flu vaccine administration at Fairview. If you haven’t sent in the permission form for your child to receive the vaccine you may still do so, and if you need a vaccine permission form please contact the school nurses.
On a much lighter note… November… the month to be “Thankful”. Although I can think of many things we are thankful for at Fairview School, I thought I would focus on just 3 this year.
I am thankful for the parents/guardians who take the time to teach the children to respect authority. Because of this, Fairview is a better place.
I am thankful for our overall improvement in student achievement. This is a true sign that what we are doing is working.
Last but not least…. I am thankful for the entire staff who day in and day out touch the lives of your children.
As always, I have an open door policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Happy Thanksgiving, from my family to yours.
